Governor reviews sanitation and ongoing works on the Pahalgam route | KNO

Pursuant to the directions of Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), Shri Bhupinder Kumar, Additional Chief Executive Officer, along with Shri Romesh K. Pandita, General Manager (Works), Shri Jalid Reyaz Banday, General Manager Sanitation, and other officers of the Board, undertook an extensive tour of Nunwan, Chandanwari and Sheshnag Camps on 6th - 7th October 2017 to review progress of the various ongoing works being done by the different departments and the status of cleanliness / sanitation in and around the Yatra Camps and along the tracks.

On return from tour Additional CEO informed the Chairman that all the Yatra Camps and the tracks have been properly cleaned with the joint efforts of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, District Administration of Anantnag and the Chief Executive Officer of Pahalgam Development Authority. It has further been impressed upon the Chief Executive Officer, Pahalgam Development Authority to ensure lifting of residual waste generated by the labourers engaged in the execution of various works and its proper disposal before the onset of winter.

 

Additional CEO also reviewed the functioning of the existing Sewage Treatment Plant at Nunwan and apprised Governor that the process for upgradation of STP has already been initiated and the same will be completed before the next Yatra. The existing STP shall be upgraded using Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) Technology of 300 KLD capacity.

Governor re-iterated the need to ensure that the cleanliness and sanitation of all the Yatra Camps as well as tracks must continue to be accorded the highest priority before, during and after the annual pilgrimage. He also exhorted all the concerned agencies to work in a coordinated manner for ensuring clean and green Yatra and directed Additional CEO to work closely with the concerned departments for ensuring timely implementation of the decisions taken in the Post Yatra Review meeting 2017.
